Youth Sports Development Ambassadors 2017 Conference

CollegesWales is organising the forthcoming Youth Sports Development Ambassadors (YSDA) Conference and launch event being held at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cyncoed, Cardiff.

The YSDA project will see 7 European partner countries working together to develop new opportunities for young people to gain European experience in sports development and tackle inactivity among Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) populations in their local communities. This ground breaking project will be led by CollegesWales creating new EU networks for young people and innovative new technology encouraging sharing of knowledge and physical activity experiences. The conference will see representatives and young people from Bulgaria, Slovenia, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Hungary and Wales engaging with key stakeholders from Wales and the UK. Throughout the day a series of keynote presentations and workshops will be delivered involving EU partners and experts from organisations in Wales designed to share best practice and encourage delegates to have an active input in the development of the project.

Key themes for the day:

  • Developing peer led interventions as a sustainable solution for increasing physical activity
  • Utilising the skills of European and Welsh partners in developing training for YSDA and creation of a new EU network for sports development
  • Sharing best practice on involving young people in community sport projects working with BME populations
  • Innovative use of social media and technology in developing physical activity for peer groups
